Patrick Ewing, Anthony Mason, Larry Johnson, John Starks, Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, Dale and Antonio Davis just to name a few of the players from the 1995 drag out series between the Knicks and Pacers. This was in the older less-friendly NBA. Those were some of the best games I have ever seen. It is weird that I am a Pacers fan, and I always looked forward to playing the Knicks. Fast forward to today’s rivalry. Paul George, Roy Hibbert, David West, George Hill, Carmelo Anthony, JR Smith, Iman Shumpert and Tyson Chandeler play the roles in the new version. Kind of the same things are going on. Drag out low scoring games, teams getting blown out, a few elbows and shoves and Spike Lee sitting in the front row. The Pacers can thank Spike for at least one of Reggie Miller’s star performances in Madison Square Garden, but I bet he will keep his trap shut in this series. The series is exciting, the Pacers are up 2-1 with another game in Indiana tonight. It takes 4 to win, so the series is far from over. Let’s watch and see what happens. I will watch tonight and hopefully some of that strong Pacers defense will rub off on me. Probably not. Defense is overrated in pick up. Especially for me.
